Sneaker culture in India is prevalent and can be clearly seen through various Instagram stories and posts, Youtube videos, online blogs, and vlogs. I came across a number of Instagram pages that displayed how Sneaker culture has spread itself throughout various communities and bringing them together thereby fueling their passion for sneakers.
SneakerheadsIndia was the page on Instagram that brought really showed how Sneaker Culture has become widespread among in India. One can find different posts and stories related to various sneakerheads like Rannvijay Singh, Bhuvan Bam, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Raftaar, and many more who love and posses amazing collections of different sneakers. Five top favorite sneakers and the pairs one wished for were posted by the page handler. I was amazed at how much Indians loved sneakers and the length they would go for purchasing their favorite pairs.
The most astonishing post was of a sneakerhead who possessed Nike Adapt BB from the movie “Back To The Future II” making him the only known sneakerhead in possession of the same. Harshvardhan Kapoor's and Rannvijay Singh’s sneaker collection came as an eye-opener for me which clearly revealed how much Indians love sneakers and trying their best to bring the same in India as well. Air Jordans, Nike Air Force 1, Yezzeys, and what not every sneaker one can think about could be seen in those Instagram posts. I was envious and awestruck with their amazing sneaker collection and was willing to do anything just to get a glimpse of them.
I guess the only thing stopping Indians to get their hands on to their favorite sneakers their expensive price points. Otherwise, who would not want to start creating their sneaker collection starting from the all-time favorite Air Jordan 1s and Vans.
